Born in Aalborg, Denmark, Justin Cherry began playing the bassoon, taking lessons with Sennen Costa in his hometown. While attending high school, Justin completed the Danish pre-conservatory program Musikalsk Grundkursus.
As a member of Orkester Norden, Justin visited the Baltic countries and Finland. He held a scholarship in 2017 and 2018 and attended the Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan, USA, where he played in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Justin Cherry started studying with Gustavo Núñez at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf in 2020.
In 2022 he participated in the Höri Musiktage am Bodensee festival. In 2023 he was an academist with the Gstaad Menuhin festival orchestra and in 2024 he played in the Marvão festival orchestra in Portugal. In 2025 he was selected to participate in the European Union Youth symphony Orchestra as well as the Zermatt Music festival.
Since 2023 he has been playing regularly with the Kölner Kammerorchester and in the season 2023/2024 he completed the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s Academy.
Justin is currently studying in his Master at the ZHdK in Zürich studying with Matthias Racz and Hans Agreda while playing in the orchestra academy of Opernhaus Zürich
